Thoughts:

"You can have the octopus, but the egg is mine!!" Hehe. I loved being Mink! ^_^ Dragon Half has always been one of my favorite animes but I never thought I would do a costume of Mink. I finished the costume with five straight hours of work the night before leaving for Katsucon. The wings took much longer than I thought they would! I know that she only has wings when she gets excited about something but I had to have them. Overall I'm happy with the look of this costume. The only thing I had to buy fabric for was the wings and tail, so it didn't cost too much either.

Construction:

wig: The wig is a combination of two. I bought the red devil wig, but it wasn't long enough, so I bought a long straight red wig and put the devil wig on top of it. The horns go between the two wigs, so that you can't see the headband.

horns: These were made from light yellow pvc vinyl, sewed into the shape of Mink's horns and stuffed. I then inserted wire into them and attached the ends of the wire onto a headband. I added hotglue for extra support. I then wound black ribbon around each horn to create the spiral look.

top: I sewed the top from crushed velvet using no pattern. It's stretchy and didn't need to be hemmed. The cone bra was made by cutting thick vinyl into two circles, then making a cut to the middle of each circle. One end was overlapped on each circle, forming the cones. I cut two more circles out of the pvc vinyl and made them into cones as well, then glued them over the thick vinyl. I used a marker to make the rings. The broach was made out of Sculpy and was painted with model paints.

gloves: These were made without pattern and simply slip on and off my arms.

wings: I made a wire frame for the wings and sewed snakeskin vinyl over the wire. Two claws were inserted into small holes. I then stuffed the snakeskin vinyl to give it the right look. I cut orange pvc vinyl for the insides of the wings and hand sewed them on very carefully. I tyed the wings' wires together, then tyed two elastic loops on each wing.

tail: I cut a piece of snakeskin vinyl in the shape of Mink's tail, then a piece of orange pvc vinyl slightly skinnier than the snakeskin. I sewed the two pieces together, turned it right side out, and inserted wire into it. I stuffed it and attached it onto the bikini bottom using hotglue and the remaining wire.

bottom: I had this lying around from an old bikini.

boots: I sewed the boots to form fit my legs, then drew the design on with marker. I made the gold pointed toes by sewing them out of thick vinyl and covering with gold lycra. I wore black socks under the gold.
