Thoughts:

I could never have guessed how popular Pokemon would become in the US. I first learned of it from the infamous incident in Japan in which 400 children were rushed to the hospital for Pikachu induced seizures. I have to admit that was what made me curious to see what the show was like. After seeing Pikachu, I wanted to make a version of a Pikachugirl costume, much like catgirls, mousegirls, bunnygirls, etc. This was a completely just-for-fun costume. I had no idea how many girls in Japan had had the same idea. I've even seen girls dressed as Meowth, and one really cute Pollywag-girl costume. ^_^
