Thoughts:

This costume was completely on impulse! I saw her picture in a Japanese animation magazine on an add. A long time ago, I purchased several yards of tiger-striped fur with the intent to reconstruct my Lum costume, which was falling apart. After making the top, I decided that it didn't look enough like Lum and stuffed the rest of the fabric away. I looked for ideas of what I could do with the fabric but couldn't find any and moved on to other costumes. Just recently, I found this costume and started immediately on it. It was done in 4 hours! I already had the wig, all the needed fabric, and the red shoes. A trip to the grocery store for some dark pantyhose and the costume was complete! Meow!

Construction:

Top: I covered a bra with tiger fur

Bottom: I used the bottom half of a leotard pattern.

Ears: I made the ears from sewing two triangles out of the fur and turning them right side out. Then I did the same with some pink satin, for the insides. I hotglued the satin onto the ears and the ears onto a headband.

Tail: I doubled the fur and cut out a long tail shape. Then I sewed it and turned it right side out. I inserted a wire into it and stuffed it with polyester fiber. Then I sewed it onto the bikini bottom.

Paws: I made these by tracing my hand on doubled fur, sewing, and turning right side out. I made the pink padding out of satin.

Bow: I used a pattern from my Sailor Moon costume bow pattern I had already made.

The wig was purchased at Funwigs, and the pantyhose, shoes, and bell were also purchased.
